Areyto Boriken, presented by Ethnobotanical Adventures, is the first event in our annual series. We warmly invite you to explore the cultural and ethnobotanical heritage of the Taíno people of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, focusing on the sacred cohoba plant and its use. Our intimate journey begins Sat, Jan 24, 2026 with a lecture and walk at the Tibes Taíno Museum in Ponce, Puerto Rico and continues with specilaized workshops and presentations at Campamento Behiques in Maricao, Puerto Rico. On Sun, Jan 25, there are options that include a guided tour to the Batey-Delfin Del-Yaguez Archeological Park and a visit to Caguana Ceremonial Park or staying at Campamento Behiques to relax and enjoy the waterfalls.
Our lineup of special guests include pre-Columbian art historian, Dr. Constantino Manuel Torres; botanical illustrator, Donna Torres; archaeologist and Puerto Rican indigenous artist, Daniel Silva Pagan; renowned mycologists William Padilla-Brown and Kurk Miller; and legendary, visionary painter, Mark Henson. Together, they will offer an accessible and enriching experience of Taíno heritage and the mycology of the island of Puerto Rico.
This event is also a celebration of life of Monti Moore, the late wife of Mark Henson.

Limited tent camping and lodging offered.
We will provide informations for local accomadations including Hipcamp, Air BnB, haciendas and hotels
Meals included: Saturday: Lunch & Dinner; Sunday: Breakfast. Cooking options available.

Areyto Boriken, presentado por Ethnobotanical Adventures, es el primer evento de nuestra serie anual. Les invitamos cordialmente a explorar el patrimonio cultural y etnobotánico del pueblo taíno de Puerto Rico y el Caribe, con especial atención a la planta sagrada cohoba y sus usos. Nuestro viaje comienza el sábado 24 de enero de 2026 con una conferencia y una caminata en el Museo Taíno Tibes en Ponce, Puerto Rico, y continúa con talleres y presentaciones especializadas en el Campamento Behiques en Maricao, Puerto Rico. El domingo 25 de enero, ofrecemos diversas opciones, como una visita guiada al Parque Arqueológico Batey-Delfín del Yagüez y al Parque Ceremonial Caguana, o bien, una estancia en el Campamento Behiques para relajarse y disfrutar de las cascadas.
Entre nuestros invitados especiales se encuentran el historiador del arte precolombino, Dr. Constantino Manuel Torres; la ilustradora botánica, Donna Torres; y el arqueólogo y artista indígena puertorriqueño, Daniel Silva Pagan. Los renombrados micólogos William Padilla-Brown y Kurk Miller, junto con el legendario y visionario pintor Mark Henson, ofrecerán una experiencia accesible y enriquecedora sobre la herencia taína y la micología de Puerto Rico.
Este evento también rinde homenaje a Monti Moore, la difunta esposa de Mark Henson.
