As a wonderful organic fertilizer not conducive to the microbes that cause illness in humans, rabbit manure is extra valuable when you know how they are raised. Whether you grow them as pets, for their rich fertilizer, or meat, there are some specifics that we want to share! Join us to learn how we developed our pastured rabbit production system and how we utilize them in our vegetable production to heal the soil. This workshop will cover raising and breeding in a hybrid pasture model, perfect for homesteaders or enthusiasts looking to raise rabbits for meat.
Throughout this workshop, we will explore the pastured systems that White Oak Pastures implements, along with looking back on how we have progressed and improved over the years. You will also learn how to humanly slaughter, then break down a rabbit carcass. Finally, we will demonstrate cooking techniques when working with rabbit meat in the kitchen.
This educational event is a fantastic way to get a 360 view on what it takes to raise, handle, and dispatch pastured rabbits on your own!
