Being born and raised for much of my childhood in rural Appalachia, my Granny taught me everything I needed to know. From how to be self-reliant, to treat strangers as if they’re family, and even how to stretch a dollar to feed a large family. My roots are everything to me; especially the recipes and traditions passed down from countless generations. Appalachia holds a special place in my heart, and I’m sure to show that in every plate I present to every person I serve. I was not traditionally trained in any way, but I have worked tirelessly in multiple restaurants over the years to hone in on my passion. My passion for food and its visceral impact on folks have been a driving factor in my career as a self-made chef. I have been a busser, food runner, server, bartender, line cook, and a sous chef up until my latest role as “event coordinator and AGM” at The Classic Cup Cafe on the Plaza.
