Memorial Day Concert - This We'll Defend

This We’ll Defend is a powerful Memorial concert honoring the service, sacrifice, and enduring spirit of those who have served our nation. Through a moving blend of patriotic classics and deeply reflective works, the Blue Ash/Montgomery Symphony Orchestra invites the community to remember, reflect, and give thanks.

The program opens with beloved symbols of national pride, including the National Anthem and an Armed Forces Salute, before exploring the profound emotional landscape of service and sacrifice. Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man and Lincoln Portrait stand as stirring tributes to democratic ideals and collective courage, while Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture brings dramatic intensity and resolve.

Following intermission, Barber’s Adagio for Strings offers a moment of quiet remembrance, leading into a solemn performance of Taps. The concert concludes with rousing and nostalgic selections that celebrate resilience, unity, and hope—reminding us why, together, this we’ll defend. Bring your lawn chairs! Well behaved pets are also welcome!
