Dinner in the Dark

What to expect
When you enter the Old Frink Gym at The Panhandle Pioneer Settlement, the lights will be low. You will be escorted to your table. Of course your eyes will adjust to the low light after you are seated. This will give you an opportunity to explore the table and find your utensils and drinking glasses. Once everyone has been seated, we will welcome everyone to this new and exciting experience. We will have a couple of speakers that are either completely blind or substantially visually impaired. When the servers are ready, you will be asked to put on your blindfold. Bibs are also available. Now the fun will begin!!! The server will make sure they are serving the correct person. This is imperative due to allergies. Can’t find that dang fork? Who cares!! God made fingers for a purpose! Explore! Have fun! Nobody is watching! We are ALL blindfolded! We will have a student volunteer stationed at every table or two to assist as needed. Take your time! Enjoy the experience. The smells, the sounds, the textures. We will provide a printed menu of your meal before you leave. After dessert, we will have an auction of cakes and a few other items, as well as drawings for door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Our Keynote Speaker will discuss Lionism and about our “crusade against darkness” around the Globe. This dinner is to help fund that crusade in our very own communities of Calhoun and Liberty counties. We look forward to the feedback so we can have an even better experience for our next one.
