About this Event

Heading Home of South Central Indiana is hosting a regional housing summit to bring residents, landlords, businesses, nonprofits, people with lived experience, government, and community leaders together to collaboratively address the housing crisis in South Central Indiana.

Keynote: Vu Le

Vu Le is an internationally known keynote speaker, writer, and nonprofit leader. Known for his sharp insights, humor, and unapologetically honest perspective, Vu speaks on topics including collective impact, equity and inclusion, collaboration, organizational culture, burnout prevention, and the myths that often hold us back.

A former Executive Director of RVC in Seattle, Vu has spent his career advancing social justice by developing leaders of color, strengthening organizations led by communities of color, and fostering collaboration across diverse communities. He challenges us to take our work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously.

Vu brings a blend of candid insight and humor to every keynote, drawing on real world experience to help communities build stronger, more sustainable systems while staying grounded, human, and hopeful.

The day includes main sessions and breakouts, offering both big-picture insights and in-depth, interactive sessions.

Breakout sessions are organized into three thematic tracks that reflect the full housing ecosystem, from development to community connection to system improvement.

Builders sessions focus on increasing housing supply through practical development tools and innovative approaches. Topics include affordable housing financing, land trusts and cooperative models, incremental development, and emerging construction methods, all grounded in real world examples.

Connectors sessions explore how relationships and community support can create housing stability. Topics include addressing generational poverty, relational poverty, faith and community-based housing efforts, and elevating lived experience, with an emphasis on models that can be adapted locally.

Improvers sessions examine how policies and systems can be strengthened to remove barriers and improve outcomes. Topics include landlord engagement, improving housing accessibility, addressing generational poverty, using data to improve systems, understanding new state housing legislation, and advancing collective impact strategies.
