About the event

Lunch & Learn: Understanding the Role of an End-of-Life Doula and the Power of Death Cafes
Bring your lunch and join us to learn about what a End-of-Life doula is and the power of death cafes on Thursday, September 11, from 12:10 to 1:00 p.m. with Carley Cotner, a compassionate end-of-life doula.

In this engaging presentation, Cotner will explore the vital role of an end-of-life doula, highlighting how they provide emotional, spiritual, and practical support during the dying process. Additionally, discover the unique concept of Death Cafes—safe spaces for open conversations about death and dying that foster community, understanding, and acceptance. Together, we will challenge societal taboos and embrace the beauty of life’s final chapter. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, reflect, and connect over lunch!

Carley Cotner is an INELDA trained end-of-life doula serving the Bloomington Normal area. With a deep passion for legacy work, she focuses on helping individuals and families create meaningful narratives that honor lives well-lived. As a host of regular Death Cafes, she creates a welcoming space for open dialogue, encouraging participants to share their fears, desires, questions, and experiences surrounding death and dying. Cotner is dedicated to guiding individuals and families through one of life’s most profound transitions

The Museum's Lunch & Learn series is made possible with the support of our presenting sponsor, MCK CPAs & Advisors. This series provides unique learning opportunities every second Thursday of the month over the lunch hour (12:10 to 1:00 p.m.) in person and live via youtube.com/mchistorymuseum.
