Bloomington Public Library’s 2026 Summer Reading Program for kids, teens, and adults begins Tuesday, May 26, and will run through Monday, July 27! 

Beginning May 26, pick up your reading log at the library, on the Bookmobile, or print it from home by visiting bit.ly/bplsrp2026.

Completion prizes will be awarded to all who complete the program. Lists of the 2026 completion prizes for each age group area already posted to bit.ly/bplsrp2026!

You should also plan to join us on Sunday, May 31, for our Summer Reading Kickoff Party from 2-4pm. During the party, you’ll enjoy family fun as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Route 66! (The 2026 Summer Reading theme is Get Your Books on Route 66 in celebration of the 100th anniversary of The Mother Road!)

Party activities include:
--- Pick up your Summer Reading log.
--- Climb aboard the Bookmobile and conquer our scavenger hunt.
--- Visit the BPL-On-the-Go vehicle to take part in a hands-on makerspace activity.
--- Enjoy car-themed children's crafts & activities.
--- Explore the Mclean County History Museum's Route 66 display.
--- Experience live music from the Rusty Pickups on the library's patio. 
--- Enjoy shaved ice from Kona Ice (for purchase).
--- Bounce for joy in a giraffe themed bounce house!
--- Say cheese! Take a photo behind our classic car display.
