History
Four years ago, the David Davis Mansion celebrated its sesquicentennial, and with it was published a special anniversary book, The David Davis Mansion, 1872-2022: 150 Years at Clover Lawn by Dr. Marcia Young.
A year later we received an email from one of the descendants of David Davis...his great-great-great granddaughter...saying that she had recently read the book and recognized a mantle clock which appeared in one of the photographs featured inside. In fact, she had it in her home! She offered to donate this artifact back to the mansion so our visitors could enjoy it again.
Following its return to the mansion, the clock then underwent a period of repair, restoration, and research, and is now ready to be placed back inside the mansion for everyone to see.
About the Event
Join us at the David Davis Mansion for an artifact unveiling! See the mantle clock, attend a presentation from Dr. Young about her artifact research, and enjoy a slice of cake to celebrate Judge David Davis’ 211th birthday, which he first celebrated on March 9, 1815!
The David Davis Mansion, 1872-2022: 150 Years at Clover Lawn will also be available for purchase in the Clover Lawn Museum Shop for a special discounted price of $40 (originally $100). Dr. Young has graciously offered to sign any books purchased during the evening.
