It's My City! Artists in Conversation

The Programme for Innovation in Artform Development (PIAD) presents

It's My City! Artists in Conversation
Public dialogue led by Alex Rinsler

Wednesday, 2 March 2016 at 18:00
Oliewenhuis Art Museum
16 Harry Smith Street
Bloemfontein

Presented as part of the Programme for Innovation in Artform Development (PIAD), an initiative of the Vrystaat Arts Festival and the University of the Free State. Supported by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Kindly hosted by the Friends of Oliewenhuis Art Museum.

PIAD’s signature project for 2016 is well underway; meet the local artists who are bringing It's My City to life. The conversation will be chaired by UK-based Alex Rinsler, lead artist for the project, in Bloemfontein.

It's My City: three structures take form in different parts of Bloemfontein, made by three local artists and communities. After a week the structures come to life and meet each other.

The dialogue will take place at the end of a two-week intensive seminar where the core team have been working hard to put shapes to their ideas.

About Alex: Alex is a public artist and festival producer based in Manchester, UK. He founded the Giant's Foundry to make magical works that focus on community, and recently began as creative lead for Blackpool Illuminations, the world's first free electric light festival. It's My City is his first work in South Africa.
