Sounds Summer Slam is back! Join us for a new format this year with a 3 day event!
The Stoned-Em crew, in collaboration with Hendersons Outdoor Co, proudly presents Stoned-Em Sounds Summer Slam 2025 spearfishing competition 5th-7th December 2025.
This is our 7th year running New Zealand's biggest spearfishing competition and we are back with a new format with a three day event!
This year’s spot prize is an epic dive/fish/hunt trip to Stewart Island with the legends at Galeforce fishing Charters.
To be eligible to win this years major spot prize you need to weigh in 2 of the 7 species listed below and collect some ocean rubbish.
The boundaries of this three-day event are the Marlborough Sounds area, which covers a massive 4000 km2 and competitors can either shore dive, use a kayak or boat.
Looking after the marine environment that we all enjoy is a key part of this competition, so the ocean rubbish categories will be a prominent feature again with some awesome prizes lined up.
Competition T-shirts & Singlets will be for sale with your ticket purchase, these will be limited to online sales only this year and as usual all profits go to this years charity, Project Jonah.
The species list has been mixed up and the 7 species for this year are:
Kingfish
Crayfish
Moki
Snapper
Flatfish (sole,flounder)
Mystery species 1 – announced at the briefing
Mystery species 2 – announced at the briefing
The scoring is designed so the number of species entered will win over weight. Therefore, you are encouraged to target the different species rather than ‘up-size’ your catch.
Registration and sign-in is on Friday 5th December at the Marine & Outdoors (14 Horton St), starting at 9am, followed by a compulsory briefing.
The weigh-in is on Sunday 7th December at Marine and Outdoors (14 Horton Street) from 1pm with a cut off at 3pm, so make sure you are be lined up with your catch by then to be eligible to enter.
Food and beverage will be for sale at the weigh-in, with all profits also being donated to Project Jonah.
It's 2 divers per team and the entry fee is $75 per diver.
How to be part of the competition:
1. Purchase a ticket (300 max, T&C’s apply)
2. Attend the compulsory briefing on Friday 5th December 9am at Marine and Outdoors (14 Horton Street Blenheim).
3. Comply with all rules covered in the “Stoned-Em Sounds Summer Slam 2025 rules” document (this will be shared electronically and handed out at registration).
