- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 25 Apr, 2026 at 10:00 am – Sat, 25 Apr, 2026 at 03:00 pm
- **Event Description**: Mark your calendars for April 25, 2026, at Peace Arch Park, The American Kitchen! This amazing location sits perfectly on the border between our District’s two parent nations.

This unique event brings together Lions from both sides of the US/Canada border in our international District 19-O. It’s more than a ceremony — it’s an annual celebration and “party” recognizing our club growth for the 2025-2026 Lion year, while highlighting the spirit of service that unites us.

Event Details:
• Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026
• Location: Peace Arch Park (straddling the U.S.-Canada border between Blaine, Washington, and Surrey, British Columbia)

• Morning Environmental Service Project: 10:00 AM start, coordinated with Peace Arch Park Ranger Rick
(This aligns perfectly with International President A.P. Singh’s Environmental Service Week, April 18–26, 2026)

• Worldwide Induction Day Ceremony: Following the service project. The Ceremony will be performed by District Governor September Stokes (estimated to begin at 1pm)

• Lunch: Provided on site – Crab Boil (Bairdi crab, potatoes, sausage, and corn) with a hamburger option also available
Nominal donation: $10 US per person, payable the day of the event

Why Attend?
• Participate in a meaningful hands-on environmental service project (gardening/park beautification) and earn environmental service hours
• Celebrate Worldwide Induction Day with a special district ceremony
• Receive a presidential Worldwide Induction Day certificate for new Lions and sponsors who attend.
• Recognize and honor our district’s membership growth for the 2025-2026 Lion year!
• Enjoy fellowship in a beautiful binational park that symbolizes peace and unity between Canada and the United States.

Who Should Come?
• All Lions — whether you have new members to induct or not
• New Lions from the 2025-2026 Lion year and their respective sponsors (even if your club has already held a local induction)
• Any Lion wanting to serve the environment and celebrate with the district

What to Bring:
• Garden gloves
• Gardening tools (shovels, rakes, etc.)
• The park will provide some tools, but we are encouraged to bring extras as we expect a good turnout

RSVP Requested: If you plan to attend, please email me with the names of any new Lions and their sponsors to be included on the presidential certificates.

Lions Worldwide Induction Day Instructions for Canadians and Americans:
No visa is required, and the event does not require anyone to formally cross the border or go through customs/immigration.
Peace Arch Park is a special international park that straddles the U.S.-Canada border. You can access the entire park (both the Canadian and American sides) without needing a passport or visa, as long as you stay within the park boundaries and do not exit into the other country.

• Canadian Lions can enter the park from the Canadian side (Surrey, BC) and enjoy the full event without crossing into the U.S.

• American Lions can enter from the U.S. side (Blaine, WA).

Driving and Parking Instructions for Canadian Lions:
Take southbound Highway 99 toward the border. Just before the duty-free shop and border crossing, take the right exit onto Beach Road (Exit 1 / Park entrance). Do not continue straight into the duty-free or border lanes — turn right as if heading to the provincial park. Follow the signs to the Peace Arch Provincial Park parking lot. Park only in the designated parking areas (the lot is open 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily). There is no parking allowed on Beach Road or the access road. From the Canadian parking lot, it’s a short, easy walk into the shared park area where the American Kitchen is located.

Driving and Parking Instructions for American Lions:
Take Interstate 5 (I-5) and use Exit 276 (the last exit before the Canadian border — it is signed for Peace Arch Park / State Park). Whether heading north or south, take this exit. Follow the signs or the roundabout to Peace Arch Historical State Park (address: 19 A Street, Blaine, WA 98230). Park in the designated state park parking lot. A Discover Pass is required for parking (day passes cost $10 and can be purchased at the automated pay stations in the lot; annual passes also accepted). Do not follow GPS directly to the Peace Arch monument, as it may direct you into the border crossing lanes — turn off GPS navigation when approaching the area if needed. From the U.S. parking lot, the American Kitchen is a short, easy walk within the park.

Where to meet:
The environmental service project, the Worldwide Induction Day ceremony, and the crab boil lunch will all take place at the American Kitchen in the park. This keeps everything convenient in one location within the shared international area — still right near the Peace Arch monument, the perfect symbolic spot for our binational District 19-O.

We recommend bringing a government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, etc.) just in case border officers or park staff ask for it, but it is not required to enter the park for this event.

We’d love to have you and your club members join us for the service project starting at 10:00 AM and the celebration afterward. It’s going to be a wonderful day of fellowship, environmental service, and recognizing our new Lions!
