English as an additional language (EAL) is a term used to describe a diverse group of learners who have been exposed to a language at home other than English. ECT

Aims/Objectives

· To understand the differences between EAL and special educational needs (SEN).

· To develop an awareness of typical language development.

· To know the different factors that impact language development.

· To have a range of resources and strategies to support language development.

Outcomes

Staff will feel more confident in understanding EAL and how to support EAL in the classroom.
