A History of Christmas - Guided Walk

Join us on this gentle winter walk as we take you through the ages looking at the traditions that became the modern Christmas we celebrate today.

Learn about how the Roman festival of Saturnalia and the Norse celebration of Yule were observed before we look at how Christmas traditions developed through the ages.

How was Christmas celebrated at the Court of Henry VIII? Did the Puritans really ban Christmas? Do we owe everything to the Victorians?

Round this off with a drink and a festive treat back at the Welcome Centre (free of charge).

If the weather isn’t favourable on the day we will hold the event indoors.

Pre booking is required. Please note that booking closes at 4.00pm the day before the event.

Come dressed for the weather conditions wearing sturdy footwear.

Children are welcome but must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
