Billy Strayhorn was a highly influential American jazz composer, pianist, and arranger, best known for his long-standing collaboration with Duke Ellington. He is celebrated for his sophisticated compositions like "Take the 'A' Train," "Lush Life," and "Chelsea Bridge," which have become jazz standards. While often overshadowed by Ellington, Strayhorn's musical contributions were equally significant, impacting both the Ellington orchestra's sound and the broader jazz landscape.
