Join us for an unforgettable evening with these two local blues legends. What an incredible way to kickoff the Black Mountain Blues festival!!
Peggy Chanteuse Ratusz has been performing for nearly 50 years; the last 22, in WNC. Her versatility, range, depth and sincerity create a cyclical experience for audiences large and small. From cover tunes to originals, from Blues to Jazz and every genre in between, the scope of throwback to modern stylings she chooses to deliver effectively evokes the groove and embodies the lyrical content, setting her apart from other great vocalists. For the past 17 years, she’s either won or placed in the Western North Carolina Readers poll for Best in Blues. In 2016, she was named Best Vocalist as well as the area’s most noted musician who gives back to the community. Peggy was a semi-finalist in The Blues Foundation’s (Memphis, TN) International Blues Challenge in 2008, 2010 and 2016. She’s opened for Tedeschi-Trucks Band, Geoff Atchison, Karen Lovely, Taj Mahal, Danielle Nicole, the Beach Boys and the late greats, Denise LaSalle and Sean Costello.
With power house vocals and a smokin’ harmonica, Bill Mattocks backed up by longtime Blues Guitarist Howie Johnson, Ace Keyboardist Kevin Sanders, Veteran Bassist Charlie Wilkinson and Asheville’s favorite Drummer and Cartoonist David Cohen. They performed real deal Blues from the likes of Robert Johnson, Wille Dixon, Son House, BB King, Howlin’ Wolf, Johnny Winter, and Buddy Guy to name a few.

“Bill Mattocks is a real deal soulful Musician who sings and plays from deep down. He makes you believe in the words he is singing by the way he delivers the message of the song. His Harmonica playing is genuine and from the heart in a way that it speaks to your emotions at so many levels. Bill always surrounds himself with top notch Musicians in his Band making for a first class concert experience each and every time.
