8-9:30 a World Premiere Screening of the Feature Film Redemption Time (Co-Produced by Asheville resident, Violinist Christian Howes).
Redemption/TIME features acclaimed poet and memoirist Jimmy Santiago Baca and renowned jazz violinist Christian Howes. Both artists draw upon their transformative journeys—from incarceration to artistic acclaim—to deliver a performance that speaks to the enduring human spirit. Directed by Dr. David Gonzalez, the project melds spoken word and musical virtuosity to with themes related to trauma and recovery, incarceration, masculinity, and ultimately redemption. There will be an opportunity for Q&A with Christian Howes after the screening.
