Join the Asheville Amblers for fun, fitness & above all, fellowship, as we bring our camaraderie, cheer, laughter and positive energy to the town of Black Mountain.  Hurricane Helene still leaves her imprint, with a single detour from our traditional routes.  
 
Black Mountain, 15 miles east of Asheville off of I-40, is nationally recognized for arts, crafts, furniture, and music. Stroll through Black Mountain’s attractive Town Square, with beautiful landscaping and oversized rocking chairs, as well as numerous gift shops, galleries, antique stores, ice cream parlors, and craft stores. There is also an authentic old fashioned general store – Town Hardware - a shopping jewel.  Stroll by the Art Center, Valley Museum, and restored train depot selling arts & crafts.  Meander along a greenway (site of the detour) and around Lake Tomahawk. Enjoy the large storybook & fun nature facts now displayed on signboards around the lake.  Visit the "Oaks" mansion repurposed for use by Montreat College.

Join us on Friday November 28 for 12:30 PM registration; our walk starts at 1 PM.  Certainly, lunch plans will be a topic of discussion along the walk, so join fellow walkers after the event or strike out & find your own tasty spot.
 
Please Read!!!  Due to Black Mountain's popularity with tourists & increased demand for parking, we will meet at the Town Hall 160 Midland Avenue Black Mountain, NC 28711.  The town hall is along the walk route, close to our traditional meeting spot at the Town Square & Black Mountain's Welcome Center.  Restrooms are available near the start on the corner of NC 9 (Montreat Road) and W State Street. Plan ahead & don't miss our start time!  Restrooms are available during the walk at Lake Tomahawk but not the Montreat College Annex. Bring your own water!
