The American Red Cross Babysitter's Training course is a two-day program designed to prepare youth ages 11-15 with the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. By separating caregiving skills from emergency response training, this format allows participants to learn at an age-appropriate pace while building confidence step by step.
Class times are:
Friday 4:30pm-8:00pm
Saturday 9:00am-5:00pm
Certification: Participants who pass the written tests, practical skills evaluations and successfully complete both days will earn an American Red Cross Infant & Child CPR/AED and First Aid certification, valid for two years. You may opt out of the written tests, and will still receive and practice the information for CPR/First Aid/AED, but not be certified in CPR/First Aid/AED. Every student who successfully participates in both days will receive their Babysitting Training certificate.
If the student wants to have both certificates, they must take the written exams and pass with an 80%. Review time and support are built in, and retake opportunities are available if needed.
Important Information for Families:
This is a two-day course, and attendance on both days is required for certification. All materials and equipment are provided. Breaks are scheduled throughout each day. The program emphasizes learning, confidence, and preparedness-not perfection.
