SALT has been accepted for a field trip discovery opportunity at Bamfield Marine Biology Station. This is truly an amazing and unique opportunity to view God's diverse and unique marine life up close and in the wonder and beauty of His creation. SALT has room for 12 students including chaperones. We already have 4 spots confirmed which leaves 8 spots available. This opportunity prioritizes placements for high school students or young adults in college or university. Our program is faith based and Christ centered all participants will agree to conduct themselves according to these standards and uphold our statement of faith. If you are interested please contact us ASAP to reserve a spot.
This marine station is located on the west side of Vancouver Island and features a post secondary college for learning marine biology, oceanography, and marine ecology. There are a wide variety of activities and ocean life to discover including viewing tidal pools, whale watching, trolling the ocean floor, investigating sea life, marine life, sea birds, seals, bioillumineance, and more. Some of the field trip example iternary can be seen on the following website link:

We will be applying for a bursary and we can also do some fund raising for our trip to bring costs down. The field trip, travel, accommodations, and other educational costs, as well as social opportunities in total will cost approximately $2000 to $2500 without fundraising (depending on our decisions for options per person). This is a great rate for the educational and memorable experience provided.
The dates at the Bamfield Marine Station are already booked for October 1 to 4th but we will require extra days for the flights and travel across the island. Due to location, we felt we would also provide add in options for a day in Victoria at Bouchart Gardens and at Vancouver for the largest aquarium along the west coast. There are other ideas to present but these are absolutely must sees if you have not been to them before and even great to revisit if you have. The full length of proposed travel dates including all field trips is September 29 to October 6 or 7th depending on our selected options. Basically one week's time commitment.
This is truly an amazing opportunity and it is highly competitive waitlist so we are blessed to have any reserved spots available. I have personally been to Banfield Marine Biology station 3 times (as a student, as a science teacher, and on my honeymoon). I have tried to take classes of science students for many years with only being placed on waitlists. It has recently taken another 3 or 4 year of applying and waiting for this approval.
If interested contact me directly at the following email stating your interest in the Banfield field trip and how many students as well as their ages. SALT is run as part of the Millarville Community Church ministry supporting homeschoolers and hopefully working towards building a Christ centered school in the area. We have security clearances and reputability. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
You will be contacted to come to an information evening and to reserve your spot. The information evening will be presented very soon as I need to collect deposits by the end of May. Send the email to:
