Plaid Splash at Giants Ridge takes over the final day of alpine operations on Saturday, April 4, 2026, with a full-day celebration built around one of the most iconic spring traditions in Minnesota.
The centerpiece of the day is our official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title attempt for the Largest Gathering of People Wearing Tartan (Plaid). The current world record stands at 1,359 participants, and our goal is to bring Minnesotans together to set a new record right here on the Iron Range.

Beyond the record attempt, Plaid Splash at Giants Ridge will feature a spring pond skim, a vendor village, interactive activities for families, a morning Easter egg hunt for younger guests, and a free concert following the pond skim. A portion of the event also supports Biwabik EMS through a community giving component tied directly to record participation.
Registration for Plaid Splash at Giants Ridge is free, but advance registration is strongly encouraged. Registering helps us coordinate staffing, safety, plaid distribution, and overall event logistics to ensure a successful GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS attempt.
