Rope: The Elements (Part Two: Rolling) Kat Clark Workshop

Date: Saturday 30th November 2019
Time: 4.00-6.00pm
Corde lisse has a well-deserved reputation as one of the most thrilling, brave and pure of the aerial circus arts. This simple piece of corde offers a world possibilities for freedom of movement and expression and technical progression with an irresistible acrobatic flare.
ROPE: THE ELEMENTS is a three-part workshop series offered by Kat Clark, one of the UK’s leading corde lisse artists and teachers. In it, participants will learn techniques, tricks and sequences in three of rope’s main movement disciplines – dynamics, rolling and spinning.
Part two: Rolling

The classic roll up, in which artists defy gravity and effortlessly spiral up and away from the ground, are the flagship skill of the family of rolling movements within the art of corde lisse. Thankfully, there are more accessible skills to start with when learning rolling! From rolling up to rolling down, from spiral rolls to hiplock roll ups to dynamic roll ups, the next edition of Rope: The Elements will introduce students to the foundation techniques of the roll up family. In addition to the rolls themselves, we will be looking at interesting and fun ways to set up roll ups, as well as certain skills that go hand in hand with roll ups such as side planche.

(*The date for Part Three: Spinning will be announced shortly.)
