Our 'Information Days for Professionals' events provide the opportunity to meet our staff and students and discover more about QAC.

About this Event

Queen Alexandra College (QAC) is a national residential College and Charity that supports a diverse range of student abilities and needs based in Birmingham. We welcome students who come to our College from all over the country – as well as many who are local to us.


These events (start time: 10:00am) provide you with the opportunity to meet our staff and students and discover more about QAC including our 16-25 curriculum, employment progression provision, residential and supported living options, community based services, rehabilitation and travel training, use of assistive technology and much more.


The event may particularly interest (but is not limited to):

  • Careers Advisors and Transition Support Workers
  • DEAs, Work Coaches and Employment Advisors
  • Teachers and Teaching Assistants
  • SENCOs
  • Social Workers
  • Sensory Support Teams
  • Local Education Authority Employees

There is no charge to attend. A free lunch and refreshments will be provided.

About The Host:
Queen Alexandra College (QAC) is a friendly national residential College and charity based in Birmingham that supports a diverse range of student abilities and needs. We offer an innovative, holistic approach to learning and support for young people aged 16-25 years as well as employment-focused and supported living programmes.We welcome students who come to our College from all over the country – as well as many who are local to us. QAC has been at its current location since 1903 and can trace its history back to 1847, when it was decided that a school for the blind should be established.Today, in addition to supporting people who have a visual impairment, we offer support and guidance for students with autistic spectrum conditions, those with moderate to severe learning difficulties, students with physical and other disabilities.Ultimately, we have a great mix of students which adds to the wonderful atmosphere here in College. Class sizes are small and support levels high.At QAC your learning is planned around individual needs, interests and ambitions. The curriculum intends to maximise adult life, independence and work opportunities for all students.Residential learning, Preparation for Life (PFL), Employment Pathways, LEAP (Learning, Employment and Progression) and Vocational programmes provide opportunities to progress towards your personalised goals, at a pace that suits you and with exactly the level of support that you need.The College has a many specialists on site who are able to support students, including Speech and Language Therapists, a Visual Impairment Training Officer, Educational and Clinical Psychologists, Counsellors, Mentors, a Braille Tutor, Occupational Therapy and Sensory Support, a Dyslexia Tutor, Healthcare Professionals including a Physiotherapist, Rehabilitation and Travel Trainers and a Personal and Sexual Health Education (PSHE) Lead.
