Pavel Kolesnikov

Captivating audiences around the world with playing of 'tremendous clarity, unfailing musicality and considerable beauty' (BBC Music Magazine), Russian pianist and 'poet of the keyboard' (The Guardian) Pavel Kolesnikov launches this years Birmingham International Piano Festival programme in a special preview of the Barber Concert Hall's new Steinway grand piano. Expect an immense array of emotional effects in Beethoven's impassioned 'grand' sonata, matched with masterly counterpoint and French baroque dance music by Couperin, a poignant tryptic of lullabies by Brahms' and reflective miniatures by Tchaikovsky.
