What would it mean to reimagine our climate transition together?"—What's happening with climate and nature, and what does it mean for everyday life in the UK?The UK faces a growing climate and nature emergency. Yet most of us have never been fully briefed on what it means for our lives, our economy and our future. (2026), an eye-opening film from the National Emergency Briefing, sets out the risks facing the nation, bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence of why it matters for things like extreme weather, food security, health and the cost of living.Join us on Tuesday 16th June for this special screening of People's Emergency Briefing hosted alongside our regular Neighbourhood Supper Club at Signing Tree, 100 Ladywood Road, Ladywood, Birmingham, B16 8SZ. Following the film there will be a panel discussion with Simon Oldridge, co-founder of National Emergency Briefing, and more, to explore how the realities of 3°C futures meet everyday actions, and the generative neighbourhoods already being built by the people who live there.Neighbourhood Supper Club will continue until 8pm, and you are warmly invited to:share a tasty meal in community with neighbours near and farcontinue conversations emerging following the screening in a supportive environmentpractice the skills and capacities to respond to the challenges and possibilities ahead with hands-on care and repair activitiesexplore what is already strong in our homes, street and neighbourhoods; where our agency and ability to organise is highestdiscover how Neighbourhood Public Square and Retrofit House are being designed as a significant demonstrator for how neighbourhood civic infrastructure can rise to the challenges and opportunities ahead, including land stewardship, finance, governance, as well as building design, construction and retrofit— https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events6/banners/7a1aaa20-645d-11f1-9eab-b935473042ba-rimg-w1110-h740-dc071315-gmir.jpg Connected Events“It's not abstract. It's not party political. And most importantly, it's not bleak… I am so filled with hope after seeing just how many events have been lined up across the country. This really could be a tipping point.”—Paul RileyThis special community screening is hosted alongside our regular Neighbourhood Supper Club, which will take place on Tuesday 16th June, 4pm—8pm. This means that following the screening and panel discussion there will be space to share a meal, ground into what is already strong in our neighbourhood(s), and discover more about practical organising on the ground in Ladywood for the long term, including around the Neighbourhood Public Square and Retrofit House sitesWe are also proud to be collaborating on a screening of People's Emergency Briefing with MAC on Sunday 7th June at 3pm, including a post-film discussion with members of our team. Really different…. Stark facts, yes. But also a genuine sense of agency and even optimism... If you get the chance to attend a screening, I’d strongly encourage it."—Peter HarkerIn November 2025, the National Emergency Briefing brought together leading experts to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians and other influential people in Westminster. That evidence is now on the public record. The People’s Emergency Briefing film brings together people in local communities across the UK to hear the evidence and discuss how to respond — together with their MP. Businesses, institutions and local councils are also hosting screenings to help take the briefing to wider audiences across the nation. The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.nebriefing.orgPlease note: The BBFC certification for People's Emergency Briefing is 12A, but National Emergency Briefing recommend viewing for those aged 16+.This is based on expert advice from the Climate Psychology Alliance (CPA). Rooted in Ladywood, Birmingham, CIVIC SQUARE’s practice asks how the transition of our homes, streets and neighbourhoods might be designed, governed and stewarded collectively by the people who live there.Alongside the National Emergency Briefing, we are proudly co-hosting this neighbourhood screening and supper club as part of our ongoing commitment to building spaces for learning, organising, mutual support and collective practice in order to discover the capacities and capabilities required for neighbourhood transitions in an ambitious, emergent and participatory way.Find out more:bit.ly/Neighbourhood3bit.ly/PublicSquareCSAgenda?: 03:00 PM - 03:10 PMWelcome & Arrivals?: 03:10 PM - 04:00 PMNational Emergency Briefing Screening (Run Time: 50 mins)?: 04:00 PM - 05:00 PMPanel Discussion: 3°C Neighbourhood & Everyday Actions
