Mental Health First Aid to support young people
Are you a frontline professional working with young people?
Mental ill-health affects around 1 in 10 children and young people.
This Youth MHFA 2-day course is for people who teach, work, live with and care for young people aged 8 to 18.
The course runs from 9:30am - 5:00pm for 2 days at our Digbeth site. If you could arrive at 9am to be signed in and seated.
Certifcate on completion and course guide materials provided.

What is it:
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is recognised by the Royal Society of Public Health and is accredited. It is reccomended by Mental Health First Aid England for organisations and delivered by their qualified trainers at Better Pathways.
It has been designed give an understanding and awareness, spot early warning signs of mental distress, break down stigma and discrimination and also learn how to provide help on a first aid basis.
As well as developing your own mental health awareness, you will be taught a set of skills to allow you to offer guidance and support to a young person experiencing a mental health related crisis.
At Better Pathways, we recognise the importance of this course and are delivering them to anyone aged 16+.
On the 2 day MHFA Youth course you will learn to:
Give people the skills and awareness to support a young person experiencing mental ill-health
Encourage them to access support when it’s needed, for a faster recovery
Provides guidance to support young people aged 8-18
Reduce stigma and discrimination
Help someone who is dealing with a mental health issue
Guide someone towards proper professional help
A guide to recovery and looking after your own mental wellbeing
Youth Two Day- provides a more in depth understanding of specific mental health issues and is delivered in four manageable chunks

Our qualified trainers Emma and Kay have over 18years + experience between them and a passion in the field of mental health. With their personal lived in expereience along with professional teaching styles, they are able to deliver this course in a great way which is accessible to all individuals.
What you will get:
On completion of each course, you will receive a certificate from MHFA England and learning resources including a workbook, manual, Z card with framework and lanyard.
All participants will be required to attend both days of the day courses to gain the accreditation of Mental Health First Aider.
