Apples and Snakes presents a poetry night bringing world-class poetry to the heart of Birmingham. One regional, one national and one international poet perform alongside open micers. This month we have an international women day special!

FEATURE: Rosie Fleeshman
Rosie writes witty, thought-provoking and brutally honest poetry. She is the co runner of SPEAK, a diverse spoken word night in the heart of Manchester. She is a multi slam winner and Great Northern Slam Champion.
Rosie’s debut play 'Narcissist In The Mirror' won 'Best Spoken Word Show' in the GM Fringe and was nominated for two awards at the Manchester Theatre Awards winning ‘Best New Play’ in the process.
‘Narcissist in the Mirror’ completed a sell out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and is currently touring the UK

FEATURE: AGĀMA - music
AGĀMA is the music project and alter ego of Singer, Composer, Producer and multi instrumentalist Cassandra Gurling. Born and raised in Birmingham, UK, and now based in London, Cassandra is a classically trained vocalist and choir director. AGĀMA is an emotionally charged, musically rich fusion of Jazz, Electronica and Soul; referencing both European and Afro-Caribbean choral traditions.This rare fusion of musical and cultural influences within a socio-political context mirrors Cassandra’s mixed Anglo-Jamaican upbringing, where she learned to sing within the Church and Musical Theatre schools in multicultural Birmingham.

FEATURE: Malika Booker
Malika is an international writer whose work is steeped in anthropological research methodology and rooted in storytelling. Her writing spans poetry, theatre, monologue, installation, and education. Clients and organisations she has worked with include Arts Council England, BBC, British Council, Wellcome Trust, National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Arvon, and Hampton Court Palace.
