Better Births: Improving prevention for a safe and healthy pregnancy in the West Midlands


Public Health England together with NHS England and the Local Government Association is hosting an event for anyone who is involved in or has an interest in the Maternity Transformation Programme.

The aim



To engage with the local system around the 0-19 services relating to maternity transformation.



To bring together health and local authority partners to build upon the positive work already delivered across the West Midlands as part of a recent local maternity services review.



To facilitate the dissemination of recent policy guidance and good practice.



To ensure participants have access and understanding of data flows and resources to support impact assessment.



To explore ways in which the system can work together to improve choice throughout the pregnancy pathway.



What will the day include?

The day will include national and local input with talks and workshops covering:



Supporting women to be healthy when they become pregnant.



Promoting good practice for safer care.



Reducing health inequalities.



Reducing alcohol in pregnancy and other lifestyle factors including obesity , maternal mental health and smoking in pregnancy.



How improvements in prevention can result in more effective services.



Who should come?

This event is sponsored by the Best Start in Life Network, West Midlands Clinical Network and Clinical Senate and is open to mangers, policy makers, practitioner and anyone who has an interest in improving maternity services.
