We are pleased to announce the 14th annual Health Research Conference, delivered by the Centre for Social Care, Health & Related Research (C-SCHaRR).
This year we have an exciting opportunity to collaborate with BCU’s STEAMhouse centre, and will be hosting the event at their venue in Digbeth on Wednesday 17th April 2019. STEAMhouse aims to encourage the collaboration of arts, science, technology and maths sectors; driving innovation and research to create business solutions and fuel long-term economic growth ( https://www.steamhouse.org.uk/
In light of this opportunity, the focus of this year's conference is 'public engagement'. As part of the conference we will be delivering a parallel public engagement event to showcase our research via dynamic and innovative methods, specifically around engaging with older people. This event is in addition to presentations from colleagues across the Faculty, wider University and external partners, opportunities to network with other STEAM-led initiatives, and a chance to find out more about public engagement within research.
We are thrilled to announce our first keynote speaker, Derek Stewart OBE:

A former teacher he became actively involved in numerous aspects of patient involvement and advocacy at a local, regional and national level being the founder Chair of the Consumer Liaison Group for the National Cancer Research Institute.
