Celebrating his 45th Anniversary in bluegrass, Band Leader, Kevin Prater began his bluegrass journey at age seven. Now 45 years later Kevin has shared his talents in 24 countries, 49 states. Now in year 16 leading The Kevin Prater Band throughout the USA and Canada. 2023 found the band playing 88 shows and signing a record deal with Turnberry Records of California. First single "Kentucky Mountain Memories" released April 2024, May 17 it was #6 in the world on the Roots Music Charts. 2024 blessed the band with 104 shows. Second single from the upcoming Turnberry CD will release very soon.
In addition to traditional bluegrass, the band delivers original tunes, grassed up vintage rock, classic country and bluegrass gospel, as well as attempt any requests from patrons.
Multi award winning Kevin Prater has assembled an amazingly talented group of young pickers to help create the bands "Coal-Fired, Pure Kentucky Bluegrass" sound. In addition to Kevin on mandolin, Mallory Hindman of Reader, WV. on fiddle. Mallory began her training at age 9, studying classical for four years, until the Kenny Baker Fiddle bluegrass bug bit her. She is a student of the late Byron Berline and Eddie Stubbs of the Grand Ole Opry. On guitar, the super talented, Dalton Smith, of Alderson, WV. Dalton plays it all and sings all the parts. Dalton is a former staff musician at Hatfield McCoy Dinner theater. On bass, holding it all together, Larry Cadle of Galion, Ohio. Larry comes with a history of multiple genres of music including jazz and gospel, but he always returns to the music of his childhood, bluegrass. Codie Allen mans the banjo position. Fresh out of college, new to touring though he has had his own local bands for several years in Campbellsville, KY.
