Barely surviving a winter accident, acclaimed writer Paul Sheldon is rescued by a nurse named Annie, who lives alone in a remote home, claiming to be his biggest fan. Her benevolence takes a dark turn, however, when she begins to hold him captive, demanding to write back to life her favorite character from his stories, who he has been recently killed off.
