- **Event Description**: Every year, we have the honor of collaborating with Montana State University Billings' International Studies program by putting on a special monthly FREE ADMISSION screening throughout the last quarter of the year, with all films selected as a representation of the country they are spotlighting for the year! For 2025, MSUB is focusing on the wonderful Andean Community, and we will be helping to shed some light on the country's contemporary cinema in order to educate and celebrate the world of international cinema! For the month of September, we will begin with a special screening of Ciro Guerra's phenomenal 2015 film, EMBRACE OF THE SERPENT, at Art House Cinema and Pub, playing Tuesday, September 30th!
Inspired by the journals of Theodor Koch-Grunberg and Richard Evans Schultes, the first foreign explorers of the Colombian Amazon, EMBRACE OF THE SERPENT is a poetic and haunting journey that tells a story of contact, betrayal, and friendship between two scientist who, over the course of 40 years, explore the jungle in search of a sacred plant, and Karamakate, an Amazonian shaman and the last survivor of his people.
