This retreat is hosted in partnership by Yellow Dog Watershed Preserve (YDWP), Fishing 4All Seasons, Upper Michigan Women Anglers, the Fred Waara Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and Superior Outfitters. Join other fly-fishing enthusiasts for a peaceful camping retreat focused on brook trout fishing. Women of all experience levels—from beginners to seasoned anglers—are welcome. You’ll have opportunities to improve your technique, build community, and enjoy time in a beautiful wilderness setting. A minimum $60 donation to YDWP is required to reserve your spot. Space is limited to 20 participants. Donation Link: https://yellowdogwatershed.org/river-corridor-acquisition/ Yellow Dog Watershed Preserve is a nonprofit dedicated to protecting the Yellow Dog Watershed in its natural state for public use today and for future generations. Important details: Please arrive by 3:00 PM Eastern on Friday to set up camp. You and your gear will be shuttled to a shared camping area near an open-sided shelter, which will serve as the group gathering and food preparation space. Fly-fishing instruction and gear setup begin at 5:00 PM Friday and continue Saturday morning. After breakfast and instruction on Saturday, participants will head out in small groups led by experienced women fly anglers for a full day on the water. Participants do not need to bring their own equipment. With advance notice, FWCTU and Fishing 4All Seasons can provide fly rods, flies, and other essential gear. Waders are available to rent through Superior Outfitters. Please bring wading shoes, clothing that can get wet, and extra layers, as Upper Peninsula weather can change quickly. Waders are recommended, and registered participants will receive a complete suggested gear list. YDWP will provide campsites, an open-sided common shelter, and Saturday evening dinner. All other meals will be organized as participant potluck, with a food sign-up sheet emailed to attendees. Because space is limited to 20 participants, early registration is encouraged.
