Days and Nights of the Goddess: Yoga, Festivals, Folk Art, and Fabrics in Colorful Gujarat, India
September 18th - 30th, 2017
The Indian state of Gujarat is known for its varied tribal cultures, vibrant art, village handicrafts, and jaw-dropping stone temples. From the white deserts of Kutch to the bustling markets of Ahmedabad to the awe-inspiring sun temple at Modhera, Gujarat is India at its most colorful and relaxed.
In September, the entire state comes alive for the celebration of Navratri -- nine nights of the Goddess. The largest festival in the world honoring the divine feminine, Navratri is celebrated all across India but with particular fervor in Gujarat, where each town and village holds nightly dances and pujas in full vibrant color.
Join Instructors Josh Schrei and Cigall Eacott as we journey into the heart of Gujarat for two weeks of yoga practice and exploration leading up to the nine nights of the Goddess.
Among the highlights of our trip —
•The local handicrafts, fabrics and tribal arts surrounding Bhuj
•The sun temple of Modhera
•Rani-Ki-Vav, one of the finest examples of ancient stonework in all of India
•The markets of Ahmedabad
•The White Desert of Kutch
•Vibrant Navratri dances and celebrations
