WHO KILLED CAPTAIN ALEX?: This endearing low-budget action spectacle from Uganda might be mocked by those who can’t appreciate “outsider art,” but true film fans know passion is key to a great film, not technical proficiency. Captain Alex, leader of the Uganda People’s Defense Force, has fought the Tiger Mafia for years to shut down their drug empire. When Alex is killed by an unknown assailant, his brother Bruce U comes home to avenge his death. Bruce, a Shaolin monk, will use all his kung-fu mastery to track down the killers and put the Tiger Mafia out of business once and for all. Directed by Nabwana I.G.G., Who Killed Captain Alex? introduced the world to Wakaliwood, an independent movie studio dedicated to making action movies on a $200 budget.
