“Eccentric Cinema” was inspired by the groundbreaking L.A. cable station Z Channel and its chief programmer Jerry Harvey. Dedicated to showcasing offbeat films, directors’ cuts, and the more unique mainstream offerings, Harvey resurrected movies that had been cast aside critically, flopped at the box office, or developed cult followings. Adopting that same idea, “Eccentric Cinema” brings you some of the wildest, weirdest, underseen, or most controversial movies, allowing audiences the opportunity to experience these films on the big screen.
This November, the high sheriff of Drexel repertory booking is giving the staff free rein to program their favorite cult movies to celebrate their birthdays!
WILL'S BIRTHDAY PICK - CLOUD ATLAS: From directors Lana & Liilly Wachowksi and Tom Tykwer comes an ambitious, visually stunning exploration of how lives, choices, and events are interconnected across time and space. Spanning centuries and multiple genres, the film intertwines six distinct stories (ranging from a 19th-century voyage to a dystopian future) all linked by themes of love, rebellion, and the ripple effect of human choice. Featuring a cast of greats, including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant, Susan Sarandon, Keith David, and Hugo Weaving, Cloud Atlas is a bold cinematic experiment that challenges traditional storytelling.
