Teams up to a maximum of 8 but don’t worry if you aren’t in a team yet, we can find you a slot on the evening.  

The evening is being organised by our flautist Alice Bowman, inspired by her father’s fight against testicular and germ cell Cancer.

From Alice:
‘On the 26th April 2026, I will be running the London Marathon raise funds for the ICR. My goal is to raise £3000 to support their vital work in understanding cancer, developing new treatments. 
In 2016, my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 testicular and germ cell cancer after months of back pain. He began treatment soon after, enduring rounds of chemotherapy and complex surgery to remove a tumour wrapped around his aorta and abdominal organs. A year later, he needed a triple heart bypass, caused by chemotherapy-related damage. This journey shows me not only how vital specialist care and ongoing research are for families like mine, but also how cancer affects every part of life.

The Institute of Cancer Research:
Founded in 1909, the ICR began as a small research lab that went on to establish The Royal Marsden. When the NHS was formed, the ICR became independent but has continued its close partnership with the hospital, working from "bench to beside". Today, it is one of the world's most influential cancer research institutions, serving both as a research centre and a college of the University of London. The ICR has been at the forefront of the global fight against cancer, leading breakthroughs in fundamental cancer biology (first to link DNA damage to cancer), drug discovery and development, and clinical trials that directly shape patient care.
