Come down to the waterfront to watch this Waxing Gibbous Moon (98%) rise at 7:22 PM before the sun sets at 7:25 PM.
Weather permitting, we will have a small campfire. BYOB snacks/ drinks and chairs. Social members are welcome to enjoy the view from the waterfront. Boaters may want to watch from the water. Rain cancels of course.
The Corn Moon or Harvest Moon is a name given by several Native American tribes to the September Full Moon because it marks the time when corn and other crops are harvested before the first frosts. It symbolizes a period of physical and spiritual sustenance, offering gratitude for the Earth's bounty as people "reap what they have sown".
Bring chairs, snacks, bug spray and beverages. Those paddling should bring appropriate lights for boats. Social members are invited to enjoy the sunset, moonrise, and conversation!
Random info: You can see the full Harvest/Corn Moon on the evening of September 7, 2025.
After the September 7th full moon, the moon will be below the horizon at its peak, so it will appear bright and full on the days before and after the 7th.
The September 21st New Moon will be below the horizon, meaning you will not be able to see it.
