National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is a 1989 American comedy film starring Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold, a well-meaning but inept family man determined to create the perfect, old-fashioned family Christmas for his wife, Ellen, and children, Audrey and Rusty. His plans go hilariously awry with the chaotic arrival of obnoxious relatives, including his wife's elderly parents and the eccentric Cousin Eddie, leading to a series of mishaps like failed decorations, a rogue Christmas tree, and encounters with his demanding boss. The film follows the Griswolds' attempts to enjoy the holidays amidst escalating domestic disasters, ultimately highlighting the imperfections of family and the true spirit of the holidays!
