- **Event Description**: Llyn Brenig Sailing Club is holding its hugely popular Saturday Club on eight Saturdays during May - September 2026 to provide low-cost, closely supervised training to youngsters (aged 7 - 17 years) who wish to start to learn to sail or to continue to develop their skills as ‘newbie’ dinghy sailors.
Sessions will be held on 30th May, 13th June, 11th July, 18th July, 1stAugust, 8th August, 29th August and12th September, with each date running a morning session from 0930 - 1230 and an afternoon session from 1300 - 1600. The Morning Sessions are intended for beginners, while the Afternoon Sessions are intended for youngsters with (ideally) RYA Stage 1 Certificates who wish to improve. Parents unsure about which session is best for their youngster(s) are asked to contact the Training Principal to discuss.
Participants will receive instruction according to the Royal Yachting Association’s “Get On Board” Youth Sailing Scheme syllabus, which - with satisfactory, regular progress over the three months - could result in the award of either a Stage 1 (Beginner) or Stage 2 (Intermediate) Certificate. No minimum number of sessions is set, but we expect that at least 5 or 6 sessions will be needed for such certification. Each session is limited to 8 participants to optimise safety and progression.
