You are warmly invited to Cedar Lane’s annual Interfaith Martin Luther King Jr. Service on Sunday, January 18 at 3:00 pm. Together with faith leaders, artists, and neighbors from across the DMV, we will honor the life and prophetic legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and renew our shared commitment to the work he called the Beloved Community.

Dr. King spoke of a “world house” where we are bound to one another across race, religion, culture, and nation - a truth that feels urgent today. As forces of fear and domination seek to divide us, this gathering is a public act of moral courage: prayerful, hopeful, and grounded in justice.

This year’s service will include reflections and prayers from interfaith leaders including Anne Derse, David Shneyer, Refai Arefin, Mykal Slack, Moya Harris, and others. Music will lift our spirits with offerings from the Cedar Lane A Cappella group, Varun Chitnis, and classical Indian dance by Veena Kailad.

Dr. King reminded us that peace is not merely the absence of tension, but the presence of justice. In a time of deep uncertainty, we gather to tell the truth, to stand with one another, and to choose love over fear.
