Join Howard Means for the launch of his latest novel, “Almost Home: A Novel of the Sultana and the Last Great Tragedy of the Civil War.”
“Almost Home” tells the story of four Indiana soldiers whose lives are forever changed by the Civil War and the Sultana disaster, one of the deadliest maritime tragedies in American history. Spanning from a flooded Confederate prison camp in Alabama to the Mississippi River steamboat that carried survivors home, the novel explores loyalty, love, and resilience in the face of unimaginable hardship.
Based on historical events and centered on compelling fictional characters, “Almost Home” brings this nearly forgotten chapter of history vividly to life. Read more at barnsofrosehill.org/community-education/almost-home.
