CLASSES:

A. Marcel Casablanca (Berlin). GROUND.
1h 30 min Floor Technique. Contemporary Dance and Feldenkrais.
..............................................................................
The workshop will begin with a guided training led by Marcel, where we will first arrive in the space, awaken the sensitivity of our bodies, and then learn fundamental principles of floor technique. We will treat the floor as our eternal partner who, if approached with softness and care, allows us to take root in order to rise.
Marcel Casablanca’s work focuses on finding optimal movement patterns, emphasizing the use of minimal effort to maximize the body’s possibilities. Marcel also aims to strengthen trust in the wisdom that already resides within our bodies.

B. María Cantero (Madrid). SKY.
1h 30 min Contact Improvisation
.................................................................................................
In this CI class, we will empower the solo in order to multiply our possibilities within the duet. We will bring our attention to entering into contact, the point of contact, supports, and grounding.
Throughout this hour and a half, we will work with the space before and after entering contact: the contraction and expansion of space and bodies, soma and cellular breathing. We will explore resistance, softness, and expansion of the contact surface—how to soften and open spaces within our body and within the duet.
We will also work with the center and periphery of the point of contact, and with the possibility of a third body—this other entity that is born when contact happens, that is neither you nor I.
How do we move from solo to duet?
Rilke says: “A hand that rests upon another body no longer entirely belongs to the body from which it came.”
What dance emerges from that place?

María is a performer and dancer. I specialize in physical and anthropological theatre (Odin Teatret, Denmark; and Studio Matejka, Poland), and I study contemporary dance with teachers such as Janet Novás, Pau Aran, David Zambrano, Faustin Linyekula, among others. I am currently immersed in studyin Axis Syllabus with Kira Kirsch and Antoine Ragot (Berlin).

Contact improvisation runs through my practice and is a constant focus of research. I train with teachers such as Linda Bufali, Mirva Mäkinen, Katja Mustonen, and Anya Cloud, among others. I co-create and co-direct the research spaces in CI and performing arts “Cuerpo Colectivo,” “Espacio A Rigueira,” and the “Galicia Contact Festival” (4th edition).

As a dancer and performer, some of my works include CAMINANDO by Laura Garmo, presented at Surge Madrid and the CENIT Atalaya Festival (Seville); and VOCES, a documentary dance piece directed by Silvia Galán.
