Das Konzert ist eine herrliche musikalische Reise in den Süden Italiens, auf den Spuren der Tradition und der alten Klänge, leidenschaftlich und mitreißend. Das Repertoire reicht von der apulischen Pizzica über die Tammurriata aus der Gegend um den Vesuv und der Tarantella aus Gargano bis hin zur sizilianischen Tarantella.

Begleitet von Akkordeon, Geige, Kontrabass, Flöte und typischen Instrumenten wie der Rahmentrommel, der Tammorra,  der Zampogna (Dudelsack) und der Manduline (einer besonderen Gitarre), werden Tarantelle, Pizziche, Tammurriate  und sogenannte Stornelli, alte Liebes- und Arbeiterlieder aus der mündlichen Überlieferung verschiedener Regionen aufgeführt. Zu der Musik gesellt sich als Glanzpunkt die Performance der Tänzerin, die mit den verschiedenen Tanzformen das Publikum unwiderstehlich in ihren Bann zieht.

Die Band Marenera spielt in Berlin seit 2020 und besteht aus europäische Musiker und Musikerinnern, die diese Stadt zum leben gewählt haben. Das Projekt ist entstanden aus der gemeinsamen Leidenschaft für die Tarantella und ihre ursprünglichen Ritualen, die neu entdeckt werden.

The concert is a wonderful musical journey to the south of Italy, in the footsteps of tradition and ancient sounds, passionate and rousing. The repertoire ranges from the Apulian pizzica to the tammurriata from the area around Vesuvius and the tarantella from Gargano to the Sicilian tarantella.Accompanied by accordion, violin, double bass, flute and typical instruments such as the frame drum, the tammorra, the zampogna (bagpipe) and the manduline (a special guitar), tarantelle, pizziche, tammurriate and so-called stornelli, old love and workers' songs from the oral tradition of various regions, are performed. The music is complemented by the performance of the dancer, who irresistibly captivate the audience with her various dance forms.

The band Marenera has been playing in Berlin since 2020 and consists european musicians  who have chosen this city as their home. The project was born out of a shared passion for the tarantella and its original rituals, which are being rediscovered.
