DE: “ALJAMA” ist eine zeitliche und geografische musikalische Reise durch den Mittelmeerraum, die mit den Liedern der alten sephardischen, christlichen und muslimischen Gemeinschaften der Iberischen Halbinsel (Al Andalus) beginnt und idealerweise den Migrationsbewegungen der Völker über die Jahrhunderte bis in die heutige Türkei folgt. Der Fokus liegt zunächst auf den alten iberischen Gemeinschaften, die viele Jahrhunderte miteinander koexistierten, und begleitet dann ihre Migrationen in einem zeitlichen Verlauf durch das Mittelmeer (wie im Fall der sephardischen Diaspora) bis in die Türkei. Der Name “Aljama” bezeichnete die arabischen und sephardischen Minderheiten, die nach dem Fall des arabischen Reiches weiterhin auf der Iberischen Halbinsel lebten.

Das Weltmusikprojekt Aljama widmet sich den Bevölkerungen des Mittelmeerraums in ihrer idealen Einheit und Synergie und konzentriert sich auf Lieder und Klänge, in denen sich Musik und Kulturen aus dem gesamten Mittelmeerraum vereinen.

Das Album “ALJAMA, Ancient Songs of the Mediterranean” von Claudio Merico und Giulia Tripoti, produziert von Karkum Project (Januar 2022), ist das Ergebnis von Forschung, Studien und Konzerten in Italien, die 2018 ihren Anfang nahmen. Es entstand aus dem Musikprogramm “Sefarad” und ist das Resultat musikalischer Erfahrungen, bei denen persönliche künstlerische und ästhetische Nuancen nicht fehlen. Mit einer teilweise modernen, nicht notwendigerweise philologischen Vision wird versucht, diese wunderbaren Klänge zu verinnerlichen.

Die Stimmungen reichen von rein melodischen und meditativen Momenten bis hin zu rhythmischen und mitreißenden Passagen. Von den sephardischen Romanzen über die Cantigas de Santa Maria bis hin zur andalusischen Al-Ala-Musik spiegelt das Album in perfekter Harmonie das Aufeinandertreffen von Kulturen, Religionen und Völkern wider, das die Geschichte des “Mittleren Meeres” über Jahrhunderte geprägt hat.

EN: “ALJAMA” is a temporal and geographical musical journey in the Mediterranean area, which starts from the songs of the ancient Sephardic, Christian and Muslim communities of the Iberian Peninsula (Al Andalus), to land in Turkey, ideally following the migrations of peoples over the centuries. The starting focus, therefore, is centered on the ancient Iberian communities, who coexisted for many centuries, and then follows their migrations in a temporal path throughout the Mediterranean (as in the case of the Sephardic diaspora) up to Turkey. The name Aljama indicated the Arab and Sephardic minorities still present in the Iberian Peninsula after the fall of the Arab Empire.

The worldmusic project Aljama focuses on the populations of the Mediterranean in their ideal union and synergy, focusing attention on songs and sounds in which music and cultures from all over the Mediterranean converge.

“ALJAMA, Ancient songs of the Mediterranean” Is the album by Claudio Merico and Giulia Tripoti, produced by Karkum Project (January 2022).

It is the result of research, study and concerts around Italy, which began in 2018. It comes to life from the musical program “Sefarad. The album is the result of musical experiences, in which there is no lack of personal artistic and aesthetic nuances, with a vision that is in some ways modern and not necessarily philological, which aims to make these wonderful sounds their own. The atmospheres range from purely melodic and meditative moments to others that are more rhythmic and engaging. From the Sephardic Romances to the Cantigas de Santa Maria, up to the Andalusian Al-Ala Music, in perfect harmony with the meeting of cultures, religions and peoples, which has characterized the history of the “Middle Sea” for centuries.
