Mit diesem Echtzeitmusik-Projekt erforschen Janek und Enzel – in Anlehnung an Sergei Lukjanenkos gleichnamigen Roman – die Möglichkeit, durch (in diesem Fall musikalische) Geschichten Tore zu anderen Planeten zu öffnen.Für das Konzert in der PANDA platforma freuen wir uns, den Baritonsaxophonisten Simon Rose als Gast begrüßen zu dürfen.

Das Konzert gliedert sich in drei Teile:

Simon Rose

ist freischaffender Musiker, unabhängiger Forscher und Autor aus London und lebt in Berlin. Er tritt vor allem als Baritonsaxophonist auf – sowohl in zahlreichen Kollaborationen als auch als Solist. Darüber hinaus arbeitet er interdisziplinär mit Tänzerinnen, bildenden Künstlerinnen, Mixed-Media-Formaten, selbstgebauten Instrumenten, ortsspezifischen Performances und mehr. Sein Forschungsinteresse gilt kreativen Prozessen.

Christoph Enzel

Saxophonist, Komponist, Arrangeur und Hochschuldozent. Als Kammermusiker ist er regelmäßig auf deutschen und internationalen Festivals zu Gast, als Solist war er u.a. mit dem Beethovenorchester Bonn,dem MDR Rundfunkorchester und dem Sibirischen Staatsorchester zu hören. Als Orchestersaxophonist ist er regelmäßig zu Gast beim MDR Rundfunkorchester, dem NDR Elbphilharmonieorchester, und den Berliner Philharmonikern. Er ist Tenorsaxophonist des Saxophonquartetts clair-obscur, festes Mitglied von Vladimir Jurowskis „Ensemble United Berlin“ und des Saxophonorchesters „Selmer Saxharmonic".

Klaus Janek

Kontrabass, Elektronik — er übt sich in kompositorischen und performativen Praktiken auf dem Kontrabass und mit seinem elektronischen Setup in Echtzeit. In seiner Arbeit sucht er nach der Belance zwischen Ästhetik und Diskurs.Klaus trat weltweit bei Konzerten und Festivals auf und arbeitete in Kollaborationen mit Tanz, Theater, Klang- und Radio­kunst sowie in unterschiedlichen Albumformaten. Er ist Gründungsmitglied von Sounding Situations, Mitglied von Sandeep Bhagwatis Sabdagatitara Network und regelmäßiger Kollaborateur von Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods. Engagements und Kompositionsaufträge führten ihn u. a. ins Louvre, ins Berghain, zur transmediale, zu Transart, white night (Montreal, Tel Aviv), Impulstanz Wien, Vision Festival NYC, Merzmusik, in den Gropius Bau, ins HKW sowie zu arte Concert und vielen weiteren Projekten. Er hält Gastvorträge an Universitäten weltweit. Artist-in-Residence-Aufenthalte führten ihn nach Brasilien (Vila Sul), Belgien (Q-02), Israel (Musrara Art School) und New York. Er ist Stipendiat der Robert Bosch Stiftung und erhielt Förderungen u. a. vom Musikfonds, Deutschen Musikrat, KSB, Kulturaustausch Berlin und Kulturamt Bozen. Gewinner von Music Theatre Now 2018.

With this real-time music project, Janek and Enzel — inspired by Sergei Lukyanenko’s novel of the same name — explore the possibility of opening portals to other planets through stories, in this case musical ones. For the concert at PANDA platforma, we are delighted to welcome baritone saxophonist Simon Rose as our guest.

The concert is divided into three parts:

Simon Rose

is a freelance musician and independent researcher, author from London, based in Berlin. He performs primarily on baritone saxophone in numerous collaborations and as soloist. He also collaborates beyond music with dancers, visual artists, mixed media, built instruments, site specific performance and more. His research interest is in creative processes.

Christoph Enzel

Saxophonist, composer, arranger, and university lecturer.As a chamber musician, he regularly performs at German and international festivals. As a soloist, he has appeared with the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, the MDR Radio Orchestra, and the Siberian State Orchestra, among others.As an orchestral saxophonist, he is a frequent guest with the MDR Radio Orchestra, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic.

He is the tenor saxophonist of the clair-obscur saxophone quartet, a permanent member of Vladimir Jurowski’s Ensemble United Berlin, and of the saxophone orchestra Selmer Saxharmonic.

Klaus Janek

Klaus has performed at concerts and festivals worldwide and has collaborated with dance, theater, sound and radio art, and album formats. He is a founding member of Sounding Situations, member of Sandeep Bhagwati's Sabdagatitara Network,

regular collaborator with Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods. Engagements and composition commissions bring him to the Louvre, Berghain, transmediale, Transart, white night (Montreal, Tel Aviv), Impulstanz Vienna, Vision Festival NYC, Merzmusik, Gropius Bau, HKW, arte Concert and many more. Guest lectures at universities worldwide. Artist residencies in Brazil (Vila Sul), Belgium (Q-02), Israel (Musrara Art School), NYC. He is a recipient of the Robert Bosch Stiftung Scholarship and grants from Musikfonds, German Music Council, KSB, Kulturaustausch Berlin and Kulturamt Bozen. Winner of the "Music Theatre Now 2018".
