- **Event Description**: Energy is the potential for change, which manifests itself in different ways and types of flow. Life and human existence depends on the capacity to transform energy, and there is no energy transformation without resistance. According to the biophysical principle, it is through resistance that we transform and redirect energy into something else.

ENERGY, FLOW, RESISTANCE AND TRANSFORMATIONS are vital, intertwined concepts. We will experience them in our movement explorations, learning processes, and partner dances. We will also apply them to a mix of CONTACT IMPROVISATION, TANGO, TAI CHI, FUSION and SOMATICS. The intention is to go beyond a defined dance style and towards the enjoyment of dance and movement in itself.

“Energy, flow, resistance & transformation” forms part of the broader “Ecological Body” project: a fluid crossover between the disciplines of Biomechanics, Ecology and Somatics. It focuses on the relation between our evolutionary design as opposed to a sedentary lifestyle, and on how to incorporate movement in our everyday life to effectively benefit ourselves, others and the environment.

FOR WHOM:
This workshop is open to people of all ages and experiences interested in movement creation as a path of knowledge, healing, communication and personal enrichment.
The workshop will be taught in English and German.

WORKSHOP DATE & TIME SCHEDULE: 
Saturday 21st March: 11 - 18.45hrs 
Sunday 22nd March: 10.30 - 14.45hrs 

WORKSHOP PLACE
Berlin Zentrum für Yoga und Stimme. Paul Linke Ufer 30, 10999 Berlin. 4. Etage, Hinterbau. Die Klingel für das 4. OG befindet sich an der Gewerbetür, nicht am Haupteingang (Vorderhaus).

WORKSHOP COST: 
Sliding scale 100E - 125E before 1st March. After 115E - 140E. 
Discount for full time students & unemployed. There is a possibility to attend only Saturday . Cost does not include jam.

We will be joining the Dance For Peace initiative on 
Saturday 21 March at UHU Salon, Moosdorfstrasse 7-9, 12435 Berlin Treptower. 
I will be giving a warm up and Dj till from 19:30 to 21.45hrs.

SAUNA, POTLUCK (mit bringen vegetarian Buffet) & DJ Volker till 1am.

COST of JAM:
Free for workshop participants! Please bring something for the Potluck
10E to 15E  for Jam only participants.
20E to 35E for the whole night participants.
Special discount for students or unemployed.

NOTE ON RESISTANCE: Resistance is the thing to seek not as a definite state but as a temporary state to move through.
Resistance is the biophysical principle that governs from perception, to muscle growth, to learning.
It is through that resistance that we re direct energy for something else.

Javier Cura is a teacher, visual artist, theatre director and movement activist and coach who has worked extensively in the realms of movement, dance and theatre. He has been invited to teach and perform at Fabrik Potsdam Tanztage, Goettingen Contact Impro Festival and Phantastango, Farma Dance Theatre Festival and Alchemie Tango in Prague, C.I.R.A in Strasbourg, as well as to CI Festival San Francisco (USA). He has dedicated himself to researches in anthropological and sociological themes to develop projects in social theatre in Italy, Morocco and Germany. He has collaborated on a research on expression in Contact Improvisation at the Berlin Free University. He has worked as movement advisor for Sickle Cell patients in London Royal Hospital. Through a mix of disciplines that nourish movement diversity, body awareness, consensual touch and creativity, he has created The Ecological Body, with the intention to reconnect with oneself, other beings and the Earth, in an emotional, physical and spiritual way. He defines himself as a movement activist. He encourages people to take care of their own vital movement needs, as these have a massive impact on our physical, emotional and spiritual health, as well as on our Planet’s health.
