Once, touring theatre was simple: a wooden plank for a stage, a group of storytellers, and shared tales that travelled from town to town.
Art has always thrived in constraint. Imagine six performers, in a space no larger than two square metres, bringing to life stories as vast as The Lord of the Rings, The Odyssey, or Gilgamesh through playful collaboration. What might this reveal about the way we tell stories today?
The workshop is about rethinking narratives collaboratively. Breaking them open. Finding the forces that shape them, and composing new versions around old themes. It’s a space to challenge perspective and explore how different forms of art can talk to, and transform, each other.
What does it mean to collaborate as an ensemble? Can we still hold space together, breathe as one, and move to the same rhythm? Can an ensemble carry a single heartbeat through a story?
Playfulness will lead the way.
We’ll dive into physical storytelling.
And reclaim our role in shaping how we tell the world’s stories.
