Cola – das Trio aus Montreal bestehend aus Tim Darcy (Gesang/Gitarre), Ben Stidworthy (Bass) und Evan Cartwright (Schlagzeug) – kündigt sein neues Album „Cost of Living Adjustment“ an, das am 8. Mai über Fire Talk Records erscheint, und präsentiert die erste Single sowie das dazugehörige Video zu „Hedgesitting“. C.O.L.A. ist gewissermaßen ein selbstbetiteltes Album. Es ist ein Akronym für „Cost of Living Adjustment“, ein passender konzeptioneller Rahmen für das dritte Album der Band. Warum? Weil C.O.L.A. sich unter anderem mit Sozialismus vs. Hölle auseinandersetzt. Es geht um das Würfeln mit dem Leben. Um die unheimlichen und süßen Sehnsüchte, die Nostalgie hervorrufen kann. „Cost of Living Adjustment“ ist ein komplexes, wunderschönes und manchmal seltsames Album. Es ist das raffinierteste Werk der Band. Eine Perfektion sorgfältig ausgefeilter ästhetischer Impulse.

Cola, so Darcy, definiere sich als Band durch ihren „geschmackvollen Minimalismus“. Eine tiefe Wertschätzung für das Schaffen von Musik, die romantisch, subtil und trügerisch intensiv ist. C.O.L.A. ist jedoch das bislang maximalistischste Werk der Band. In der Praxis bedeutet dieser Maximalismus, dass ein Song wie „Hedgesitting“ sowohl Live-Schlagzeug als auch einen Sample-Drum-Loop enthält. „Hedgesitting“ – präsentiert zusammen mit einem atemberaubenden Video unter der Regie von Kristina Pedersen – ist ein wunderschöner, üppiger Song. Er ist wie eine dekonstruierte, zerhackte und verzerrte B-Seite von The Cures „Disintegration“. Er ist auch ein wenig Sarah Records verpflichtet. „Als du jung warst“, singt Darcy zu Beginn des Songs, „bist du gekommen, um es zu schaffen.“
