Vier Filme von Filmemacherinnen aus dem erweiterten Umfeld des Sensory Ethnography Lab – darunter Mitarbeiterinnen, Dozierende und ehemalige Studierende – werfen Schlaglichter auf die Verflechtungen von Dokumentation, Fiktion und Macht. Sei es im Zwiegespräch zwischen Regisseurin und Protagonistin, als kollektiver Erinnerungsversuch, in Form einer elliptischen Liebesgeschichte oder als Montage zweier kapitalistischer Luxusfantasien: Die Filme fragen, welche Geschichten wir uns erzählen, welche Bilder wir uns voneinander machen und welche Systeme und Strukturen sie hervorbringen? Auf formal sehr unterschiedliche Weise setzen sich die Filme mit (Selbst-) Fiktionalisierung, dem ethnographisch-dokumentarischen Blick, Repräsentation, Intimität und Kolonialität auseinander.

Four films by women filmmakers from the extended network of the Sensory Ethnography Lab — including collaborators, lecturers, and former students — shed light on the entanglements of documentary, fiction, and power. Whether in a dialogue between director and protagonist, as a collective act of remembrance, in the form of an elliptical love story, or as a montage of two capitalist luxury fantasies: these films explore the stories we tell, the images we create of one another, and the systems and structures that emerge from them. Each in its own formally distinct way, the films engage with (self-)fictionalization, the ethnographic-documentary gaze, representation, intimacy, and coloniality.
